NCCOEEE convention at Chandigarh against power privatisation

CHANDIGARH: National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers
(NCCOEEE) will be holding a convention on March 19 at Chandigarh against
privatisation of Chandigarh electricity department .
V K Gupta spokesperson All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) said on Tuesday
that all the NCCOEEE constituent in northern region will participate in the
convention.Besides UT power employees , the employees from Punjab and Haryna will
participate in large numbers in the convention to be held in Sector 29 Chandigarh .
Prashana Chowdhury convener NCCOEEE, Shailendera Dubey Chairman AIPEF, office
bearers of various trade unions and associations and other like minded persons will
be addressing the convention.
V K Gupta sid that on January 7 this year the union cabinet had given its clearance
to the UT administration’s proposal to handover the Chandigarh electricity
department to the lowest private bidder.The UT power employees rejected the proposal
for transfer to a private company as their security of service, pay, pension can not
be safeguarded and they cannot be given inferior conditions as per Electricity Act
2003.
Moreover the standard bidding documents issued in Sept 2020 has still not been
approved by ministry of power. While in earlier instances of pvt of Delhi in 2002
and Dadra Nagar Haveli in 2022 the equity sale was 51% while for Chandigarh it is
100% which has not been approved in any central government policy.
