The NCCCOEE meeting held on 25th June 2015 at BTR Bhavan New Delhi decided to conduct a one day token strike/ work boycott by Electricity Employees and Engineers on the day when the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2014 will be taken for discussion in Parliament. There will be regional and state level conventions of Electricity employees and other stake holders including different consumer groups, farmers, small scale industries will be held in preparation of the agitation. A.B. Bardhan presided the meeting. P.N Chowdary, K.O habeeb, Swadesh Devroy, M G Suresh Kumar, Lakshmanan V, S S Subrhmanyan, Subhash Lamba (All EEFI); Shailendra Dubey, P K Sharma, P Rakthnakar Rao, P Srinath Reddy, C M Sharma (All AIPEF): A N Rajan ( (AIFEE); V asok kumar, G K vaishnav, Anil Vyas( All AIFOPDE); Kuldeep Kumar, Krishnan Chakravarty, Jugraj Sigh Yadav ( All IEWF, INTUC); S Rathnasabhapathi (TUPE, LPF) were participated.

It is also decided to have a month long intensive campaign against the Bill including its adverse impact on consumers, employees and overall development of the sector as well as economy. An open letter will be prepared and submitted to Prime Minister and circulated to all Members of Parliament. It is also decided to approach leaders of Political parties to appraise the ill effects of the Bill. The Bill is aimed to segregate content and carriage in Electricity sector, ie, dividing Distribution into Distribution, Supply with new definitions. The Line business will be with distribution where as the purchase/arranging electricity, connecting consumer, selling the power to the consumer( the soft business) will be with supply. There is proposal for multiple supply licensees in the same area thus promoting private players in the sector. this private supply licensees will cherry pick creamy consumers thus bleeding public sector with the liability to supply electricity to the unprivileged common.
