The TUI Energy Executive Committee met in South Africa, Johannesburg with enthusiasm and great sense of responsibility for a two day meeting of working out a programme of action guided by the declaration of its Congress held last December 2012 in Caracas Venezuela.
The meeting reaffirmed the position under the banner of its Federation, WFTU, of continuing fighting of its class struggle with more determination, strengthening of the class oriented trade union movement and grow our struggles in our sector. In this instance the executive members encouraged a view that we must engage with friendly trade unions in our sector and coordinate our struggles against the capitalist policies.
The meeting also emphasized the great concern of health and safety issues at a work place, fight for democratic and trade union rights, for strengthening of human rights, ensuring that energy becomes part of human rights and fight against any killing of workers. It is wholly against privatization of energy in all its forms, increase of electricity tariffs and attack of collective agreement.
The meeting also declared very clearly that we are against the privatization of energy in Brazil, India, Greece, South Africa and all other countries where it is happening.
We denounce the imperialist energy competition conflicts and wars that are generated by imperialists for their own selfish gains. We stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine, Syria, Mali, Iran and Latin American countries who are in the target of imperialists agendas.
We salute the struggles of the workers under the Energy sector in India, Sri Lanka, Bulgaria, Nigeria and many other countries.
We are optimistic that with the concluded action plan with coordination and collective work by affiliates and WFTU regional Offices we will be able to move forward in the benefit of the Energy Sector and the international working class.
